Radford hits 18 3s, beats Division II Davis & Elkins 91-57

RADFORD, Va. (AP) — Caleb Tanner made six 3-pionters and scored 19 points, Ed Polite Jr. had 18 points and 12 rebounds and Radford made 18 3-pointers in beating Division II Davis & Elkins 91-57 on Tuesday night.
It was Radford’s largest win since 2014. No Highlander made more than five 3-pointers in a game last season.
Radford comes into the season with lofty expectations after defeating LIU Brooklyn last year for the first NCAA Tournament victory in program history. Radford was picked to finish first in the Big South preseason poll.
Radford led 51-29 at halftime behind Tanner’s five 3-pointers and 16 points. Polite had 10 points and nine rebounds in the half.
Donald Hicks added five 3-pointers and 15 points for Radford, which made 18 of 33 from 3-point range. Travis Fields, Jr., Carlik Jones and Devonnte Holland missed the game for Radford due to suspensions.
Trevor English had 21 points and seven rebounds for Davis & Elkins. He was 10 of 18 from the field but Davis & Elkins shot just 36.7 percent.
