Ratcliffe Museum to unveil newest addition – a 1940 Cadillac LaSalle – during ceremony Jan. 25
On May 14, 1940 Mr. Hensel Eckman, Pulaski resident and business man took delivery of a 1940 Cadillac LaSalle. The car was purchased new from County Motors Inc. in Roanoke, Va..
Mr. Eckman drove this car 57,000 miles over the next 26 years.
April 18, 1966 was the last year a state inspection sticker was put on the car and the sticker still remains on the vehicle.
On September 7, 1966 Mrs. Eckman gifted the car to Mr. Early Aust of the Gem City Museum in Pulaski.
The car remained there until December 15, 2017 when it was gifted to the Raymond Ratcliffe Transportation Museum by the Aust family in memory of Mr. Early Aust.
The car has since been at Clayton Detailing for a much needed clean up.
The LaSalle is a great addition to the museum. Jim Petersons and Jay have moved the car to be detailed and then to the museum. New tires were also ordered and have been put on the car by Jay Turner, Chair of the Collections Committee.
It is now at the museum covered up waiting for it’s unveiling on Thursday, January 25 at the museum from 4:30 to 7:00.
We hope everyone will come out and help us celebrate this new addition to the museum’s collection. Light refreshments will be served.
