Request for Photographs of Pulaski County Veterans/Members of the Armed Forces

“Veteran’s Trees,” decorated with photographs of Pulaski County veterans and members of the armed forces, will again this year be featured as part of the county’s holiday displays.  Last year approximately 275 photographs of county veterans were displayed on trees on the 1st floor of the Pulaski County Old Stone Courthouse.

As has been done in the past, anyone wishing to provide a veteran’s photograph that has not previously been submitted may do so.  Photographs of any veteran or current member of the armed forces who has lived in Pulaski County will be accepted.  The photo, preferable of the veteran in uniform, should be framed with the size of frame and picture no larger than a 3”x4”, and not heavier than a quarter pound.  Photographs are to be submitted to the Pulaski County Treasurer’s Office, Old Stone Courthouse, Main Street, Pulaski, 24301, 540-980-7785 by Monday, November 12, 2018.   Photo’s submitted after this deadline may not appear on the display.

 

Information to be turned in with the photograph should include:

  1. Name of veteran
  2. Rank/Branch of service
  3. War or location of service
  4. Dates of service
  5. Name, address and phone number of person submitting photograph

The photographs will become the property of Pulaski County and will be used annually to decorate the Veteran’s Trees to be on display on the first floor of the Old Stone Courthouse during the months of November & December.

This year the Veteran’s Trees are scheduled to be up for public viewing by Monday, November 27, 2018 and will remain on display until January 2, 2019.   In addition, an open house of the Old Stone Courthouse is planned for December 1, 2018 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. by members of the Courthouses Exhibits Committee. Refreshments will be served in the New River Room and tours of the building will be made available to interested individuals.  Citizens are invited to attend this open house and enjoy viewing the veteran’s trees as well as our county’s history, heritage, and other display items.
