Rygas is the oldest son of Alex and Dana Bower Rygas, who became Town of Pulaski business owners in 1976 when they purchased Alex’s Mens Shop (aka Alex’s and Dana’s).  They moved to Pulaski County in 1977 and have been full time residents ever since.

Dana Bower Rygas rejoined her father Mark Bower in operating Bower Funeral Homes on Bob White Boulevard in 1991.  She has been the President of the business since his death in 2003.

“I am very proud of my daughter, Anna Pauley Rygas who is currently attending Emory & Henry College.  I am married to Stephanie Albert Rygas, who is my greatest supporter and ally,” he said.

Rygas graduated from Pulaski County High School in 1988. He earned a BBA in Accounting from the College of William and Mary in 1992 and his law degree from the University of Florida School of Law in 1995.

He obtained certification as a Certified Public Accountant in Virginia in 1992. He obtained his Virginia Bar License in 1995.

He was employed by Pulaski Furniture Corp. from 1995 to 2007. From 2008 until now, Rygas has practiced law in the Law Office of Spencer A. Rygas in Pulaski, having added the roll of Town Attorney for the Town of Pulaski in July 2016.

His volunteer work in the community includes serving on the Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce Executive Board from 2004 to 2008, as President in 2007 and as a Small Business Member since 2008.  He has also been a member of the Pulaski Rotary Club from 2011 to present, including as President in 2015.

“Pulaski County has been my home since the First Grade,” Rygas said.  “I went to William & Mary and the University of Florida and had opportunities to go anywhere.  I came to my favorite place … my home … Pulaski County, a decision I am thankful for every day.  I love Pulaski County and want to serve our local citizens, friends and neighbors in the role of your Clerk of Circuit Court.

“I hope to earn your vote on November 7, 2023!  Thank You For Your Support,” Rygas said.”
