Search for officer shooting suspect spreads to SW Virginia
BLUEFIELD, Va. (AP) — Authorities say the search for a West Virginia man wanted in the shooting of a Virginia police officer has spread to southwest Virginia.
Virginia State police said in a statement Monday that state and federal law enforcement are following up on information that 25-year-old Donquale Gray may be hiding out in the Lynchburg or Roanoke areas. Police say Gray has been living in Bluefield, West Virginia, but he’s originally from Chicago.
Gray is wanted for attempted capital murder of a police officer. Police say Gray shot a Bluefield, Virginia, police officer during a Feb. 16 traffic stop. Officers returned fire and the car was found abandoned hours later in West Virginia. The wounded officer is recovering.
A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Gray’s arrest.
