Special weather statement

Issued by: Roanoke/Blacksburg – VA, US, National Weather Service,

…COLDER TEMPERATURES AND RAIN CHANGING TO SNOW TO CREATE SLICK SPOTS… COLDER AIR BEHIND A FRONT WILL DROP TEMPERATURES TO BELOW FREEZING AS WE HEAD INTO THE OVERNIGHT. ANY RAIN WILL CHANGE TO SNOW, WITH MINOR ACCUMULATIONS EXPECTED, GENERALLY UNDER AN INCH. WITH WATER ON THE ROADS AND A LIGHT COATING OF SNOW, TEMPERATURES DROPPING TO BELOW FREEZING WILL MAKE FOR SLICK TRAVEL THROUGH EARLY FRIDAY MORNING. THIS WILL BE ESPECIALLY TRUE ALONG THE HIGHER ELEVATION ROADS, AND SECONDARY ROADS. THOSE WHO MUST TRAVEL OVERNIGHT SHOULD BE ALERT FOR SLICK SPOTS, SLOW DOWN AND GIVE YOURSELF PLENTY OF TIME TO GET TO YOUR DESTINATION.
