State’s top recruit, Henderson likely headed to Ohio State

All the major recruiting services across the country expect Trey Henderson to commit to Ohio State at 7 pm this evening. Henderson was the top player on the Class 3 state champion Hopewell team, and has over 5,000 total yards in his two varsity season.
Henderson is arguably the top rated player in Virginia this season, and appears almost certain to be the next potential great football player to leave the state for one of the nation’s “blue blood” programs.  He is no less than the second rated running back in the nation going into his senior season, and rated as the 17th best player in the nation at any position.
Henderson, 6-0, 195, has a list of offers that reads like a who’s who list. He has been offered by Michigan, Notre Dame, Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Carolina, Penn State, LSU, Florida State, Florida, Texas, West Virginia, and so on. Virginia Tech and Virginia also did their best to recruit Henderson who is not only a top notch football player, but excellent academically as well. He would qualify to pretty much go anywhere he wanted.
But the choice is apparently Ohio State, and the Buckeyes roll on. Henderson would be OSU’s second 5 star recruit, and 15th commit in the 2021 recruiting class. The Buckeyes appear to be well on their way to their first top rated recruiting class in program history. The Buckeyes have always been a top five recruiter, but have never had what was considered to be the top rated class. It appears this year will change that. Just last week Ohio St. signed the 85th rated player in the nation and 6th rated tailback, 4 star Evan Pryor out of North Carolina.
Needless to say, Hopewell is expected to contend for the Class 3 state title again next season.
