Resolution of the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors in

Recognition and in Memory of Dr. Bruce L. Fariss, MD

WHEREAS, the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors desires to honor the memory and legacy of Dr. Bruce L. Fariss upon his passing on September 12, 2020; and,

WHEREAS, Dr. Fariss had a distinguished career practicing medicine for fifty -nine years beginning in 1961 in the Army, and upon his military retirement in 1984 to completion of his private practice in Dublin, VA specializing in Endocrinology and Metabolism until February of 2020; and,

WHEREAS, Dr. Fariss quickly achieved the status of Colonel in the U.S. Army and Medical Commander for the duration of his military career and is known throughout the medical profession for his extensive research and medical discoveries that are still applied throughout medicine; and,

WHEREAS, Dr. Fariss enjoyed public service, where he served as a member of both the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission for sixteen years, as well as served on numerous boards and committees where he was responsible for spearheading efforts such as the development of parks, new programming and the paving of rural roadways throughout Pulaski County; and,

WHEREAS, Dr. Fariss spent countless hours helping his son grow Iron Heart Winery in Pulaski County, spent time gardening, enjoying time with family, writing several books and helped shape the people and world around him in a positive way.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors does hereby posthumously express its sincere appreciation to Dr. Bruce L. Fariss for his dedication, commitment and leadership to the citizens of Pulaski County.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the text of this resolution be forever captured in the meeting minutes of the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors, this 22nd day of February, 2021, in permanent testimony of the Board’s appreciation and in honor to the memory of a former County leader – Dr. Bruce L. Fariss, MD.
