Taking It To The Streets to be temporary distribution center

Taking It To The Streets Ministry in Pulaski has been called by God to serve citizens in Pulaski County who need food during this particularly difficult time due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Charlie Barbettini, Pastor of Taking It To The Streets said this week, “We feel that this is what God would have us do, to help those in need.”

Beginning Wednesday, March 18, Taking It To The Streets will be distributing free food to anyone in Pulaski County who may need extra food to feed their children and family.

On Wednesday, anyone representing a family whose last name begins with I, J, K or L may come to the church located at 223 N. Washington Avenue in downtown Pulaski.

Food will be distributed to families each day according to the first letter of your last name on the following schedule:

Monday – A, B, C, D

Tuesday – E, F, G, H

Wednesday – I, J, K, L

Thursday – M, N, O, P

Friday – Q, R, S, T

Saturday – U, V, W,

Sunday – X, Y, Z

Each family will be given a bag of food (one bag per family) each week until further notice.

Residents are asked to bring one form of identification each time food is distributed.

Family representatives are asked to come to the front door on the Washington Ave. side of the building and a bag of food will be given to you through the front door.

Distributions will be made every day, Monday – Sunday from 5 – 7 p.m.  Food bags will contain canned food and other non-perishable food items, water, paper products and cleaning supplies.

Taking It To The Streets will also provide free delivery to the elderly and shut-ins. Contact Pastor Charlie Barbettini at 276-620-4293 to make arrangements.

Anyone wishing to make donations to this effort may do so by donating non-perishable items and canned goods such as beans, soup, fruits – anything a family can use to make a meal. Monetary donations are also accepted. Make checks payable to: Taking It To The Streets, P.O. Box 30, Pulaski, VA 24301.

Also, during an earlier scheduled event this weekend, a free bagged lunch including hotdog, fries, dessert and drink will be given to everyone on Saturday, March 21, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Bagged lunches will be served at the front door.

However, the clothing distribution originally set for Saturday, March 21, has been canceled.

Barbettini added, “We’re asking for your help to make this program successful for Jesus said in Matthew 25:40, “Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” (KJV) Thank you and God bless you all.”
