Three arrrested in two-county police chase

At 2:35 p.m. on Jan. 28, deputies from our office were dispatched to Atlantic Union Bank in Riner, VA in regards to an attempt to pass a fraudulent check, as well as, a possible abduction that occurred in Roanoke City.

When approaching the area a deputy observed the suspicious vehicle and attempted a traffic stop.  The driver refused to stop for the deputy and eventually fled onto I-81 north.  The pursuit went into Roanoke County and then back into Montgomery County.  Our Office, Roanoke County Police, Virginia State Police, and Christiansburg Police Department all assisted in the pursuit.

The pursuit ended off of the 114 exit in the Town of Christiansburg.

Bobby Joel Ward (29 years old of Atlanta, GA), Mantavious Shaquan Jones (31 years old of Atlanta, GA), and Deonte Leon Carr (30 years old of Atlanta, GA) were arrested and are all being held without bond in the Montgomery County Jail.

The investigation is on-going, no further information is available at this time.

Charges include:

Bobby Joel Ward – Abduction x 2, Forge Writing x 2, Utter Writing x 2, Reckless Driving x 2, and failure to stop for law enforcement/drive 20+ MPH x 2.

Mantavious Shaquan Jones – Abduction x 2, Forge Writing x 2, and Utter Writing x 2.

Leon Deonte Carr – Abduction x 2, Forge Writing x 2, and Utter x 2.
