Two girls shot in apparent road-rage incident in Carroll County
Virginia State Police is investigating a shooting on Interstate 77 in Carroll County that occurred around 8:50 this morning (Aug. 22, 2026). It appears to have stemmed from a road-rage incident.Two sisters, ages 12 and 20, were each shot in the leg. Both were flown to a North Carolina hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
Following a brief pursuit, law enforcement stopped the suspect’s vehicle near Exit 19 and took an adult male into custody. Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation agents are investigating. Charges are pending.
