UPDATE: Pulaski man dies in Carroll County crash

At 7:34 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 3), the Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash in Carroll County. The crash occurred on Route 58 near Route 701.

A Carroll County Public School’s bus pulled from Route 701 into the eastbound lanes of Route 58 when it was involved in a collision with a 2015 Kia Sedona. The Kia was traveling east on Route 58 at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Kia, Nicholas B. Yates, 42, of Pulaski, Va., was transported to Twin County Regional Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the bus, Antonia E. Felts, 64, of Fryes, Va., was not injured in the crash.

There were 16 student passengers on the bus at the time of the crash. Only one student, a 13-year-old female, was transported to Twin County Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, with the assistance of the Virginia State Police Wytheville Division Crash Reconstruction Team and Motor Carrier Safety Team.
