UVa makes 5-star Grimes final list

Tony Grimes, the other five star recruited player from Virginia, has narrowed his final list to eight schools. Two weeks ago, 5 star running back Trey Henderson from Hopewell decided to play for Ohio State.

Grimes plays for Princess Anne in Virginia Beach. He is rated just as highly as Henderson. “Rivals” national recruiting service rates him as the 13th best senior high school player in the nation, and the best cornerback. Grimes is 6-1, 180.

Virginia Tech has fallen from Grimes’ final list of schools, but UVa still remains in contention. But it will be an extremely tough get for the Cavaliers. The prevailing opinion is that Clemson and Georgia are his top two choices, and Ohio State, Carolina, Penn State, Tennessee, and Texas A&M still have a shot.

Grimes did not give an indication when he would make his decision, but with the current shutdown in recruiting other than through technology, it’s hard to determine when Grimes will make his decision. Not being able to make official visits, and coaches not be able to visit recruits at their homes, has changed things dramatically.

Some players are delaying their decision until the visits they hope to make are allowed again, and some are deciding early because they don’t know what will happen. But Grimes is a huge get for somebody when it happens.
