VDOT: Roads are wet, caution advised as temps hover around freezing

SALEM – With rain falling throughout southwestern Virginia and temperatures hovering around freezing, drivers should use caution this morning, particularly on bridges and overpasses and on roads in the higher elevations where icy spots can form first.
So far, roads are wet this morning; however, icy conditions are still a concern as temperatures right at freezing could cause slick or icy spots to form, particular in cooler areas, on elevated surfaces and on mountain roads.
Travelers can get real-time information about road conditions, traffic incidents and congestion on Virginia roads by using VDOT’s 511 free mobile app or the www.511Virginia.org website and phone system, which can help drivers plan accordingly.
