Victims of boat collision identified

Authorities have identified the two men killed Wednesday when two boats collided on Claytor Lake near Peak Creek.

The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources reported the victims are 67-year-old Faron Dale Gardner of Hillsville and 70-year-old Reginald Sizemore of Dublin.

According to a Pulaski County Public Safety posting on social media:

The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources is currently investigating a boating accident with two fatalities that occurred in Pulaski Co., VA on March 10, 2021. A 67 year old male from Hillsville, VA and a 70 year old male from Dublin, VA were recreating on Claytor Lake when their boats collided. A Good Samaritan saw the accident and attempted to help by throwing one of the victims a personal flotation device (PFD). DWR is appreciative to the onlooker for his attempt to save one of the victims and sends their sympathies to the family and friends of each victim.

Alcohol was not a factor and neither men were wearing life jackets. The investigation is ongoing.
