Virginia AG calls for state to legalize marijuana
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring is calling for the legalization of marijuana.
Herring said Saturday that Virginia should start decriminalizing possession of small amounts of marijuana and eventually legalize the drug.
The Democratic attorney general said criminal prosecutions are costly to the state and local governments and disproportionately affect African Americans.
Herring made the remarks in an op-ed in the Daily Press and in comments to reporters at a Democratic fundraiser in Richmond.
Herring’s announcement won’t have any practical impact on marijuana prosecutions, which are typically handled at the local level. But Herring said he hopes his public support for legalization will help spur lawmakers to act.
The Republican-controlled General Assembly has killed past efforts to decriminalize marijuana.

Marijuana isn’t half as bad as meth, cocaine or the other hard drugs. And has anyone heard of people dying on an over dose of marijuana or killing someone else in a car wreck being high on it. No. So legalize it already.

I know a girl that smoked pot all the time, she could not function, she talked very slow, she hardly could walk and she acted like a goof ball, she said she had to wake up smoking weed, she would go to her car and smoke it during the day and then in the evening smoke it, so I strongly believe that you can become dependent on…You must be a smoker, Kathy….

So because you had a friend who had an addictive personality it makes everyone else the same? That’s like saying just because i know a guy who eats mcdonalds everyday and is fat that means if anyone goes to McDonalds they will do the same. Anyone can go overboard with something. As far as your jab about Kathy being a smoker…what an ignorant response.
