Virginia Tech coach Justin Fuente announced late yesterday that spring football practice for the Hokies will be scheduled and pushed back until Wednesday, March 20. It was previously scheduled to get underway this Sunday, March 3.
Fuente said the reasons are multiple. First there are still players suffering from injury that could use the extra time. There has also been a few changes to the staff and a couple of those came fairly recently so the staff could use some extra time before spring practice.
Fuente says the delay will help give the program the extra time it needs right now, plus it will not change the date of the Spring Game which will remain April 15, however, the spring game will pretty much be a scrimmage action, and with the rescheduling, there will be three days of spring practice take place the week following the spring game.
