Volvo to layoff some 700 employees in January
Volvo Trucks North America’s New River Valley Truck plant in Dublin will lay off some 700 employees in January.
Word of the layoff began surfacing late today as WARN notices of the impending layoff began going out to second shift workers.
Franky Marchand, Vice President and General Manager of the NRV plant, confirmed the news this evening during the Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce annual Dinner and Awards Banquet.
Volvo Trucks had expected to lay off workers at its Dublin plant by the end of the year, as the trucking industry began to slow down following a boom of sorts in 2018.
Marchand, however, said the layoff won’t happen until January.

Just hope as they were enjoying there dinner and awards they were considering the food that would soon be taken off many of the family’s tables that allowed them to have the ability to be in the position to recieve awards and a dinner that could potentially feed a army..GodBless each and everyone of my fellow brothers & sisters both Volvo and #2069

That’s Volvo for you. You take that chance when you go to work for them. The good thing is they do call you back eventually.
