Walk-in Clinic at New River Health District Offers Health Services and Screenings

On Friday, April 19, the New River Health District will offer a variety of health services — including vaccines, risk assessment for tuberculosis, testing for sexually transmitted infections and family planning — at a walk-in clinic at the Montgomery County Health Department, 210 South Pepper St. in Christiansburg.

The clinic is open from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday, April 19. No appointment is needed.

“This is yet another convenient opportunity for New River Valley residents to take steps to improve their health,” said Dyana Williams, nurse manager, senior for the health district. “The New River Health District offers services at five office locations throughout Montgomery, Giles, Floyd and Pulaski counties and in the City of Radford.”

“You may also have seen our new mobile health unit, a full-sized bus that is available to travel to locations throughout the New River Valley, to bring health services to our residents, especially those who face challenges of time and transportation,” Williams continued. “And it’s simply more convenient for everyone.”

Earlier in April, in celebration of National Public Health Week, the district’s mobile health unit visited a different location each day, providing health screenings, vaccines, education and free giveaways in Fairlawn, Pulaski, Dublin, Floyd, Narrows, Pearisburg, Shawsville and Radford.
