Wythe man charged with attempted murder

On Oct. 17, 2023 the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic violence call on Grouse Ridge Road in the Max Meadows community of Wythe County.

Deputies were notified this incident involved a subject with a firearm.

When deputies arrived at the residence they came into contact with James Howard Gee (5/10/1967) outside the residence. Deputies detected Mr. Gee had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person.

The victim and a witness told deputies that Mr. Gee pointed a pistol at the victim during an altercation and pulled the trigger. The weapon did not fire.

Mr. Gee was charged with the following charges: Attempted Murder and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. He is being held without bond.
