Yankees’ Vizcaino named Appalachian League Pitcher of the Week

Pulaski Yankees pitcher Alexander Vizcaino has been named Appalachian League Pitcher of the Week for July 16-22, 2018, as announced by Minor League Baseball Monday.

Vizcaino earned the honor after pitching seven scoreless innings in a 4-0 win over the Danville Braves on July 18. He recorded the win, his first of the season, after allowing just one hit and striking out six batters, while walking one. The seven-inning start marked the longest outing by a Pulaski pitcher to date this season.

The New York Yankees signed Vizcaino, 21, to a minor league contract on May 18, 2016. He spent the 2016 season in the Dominican Summer League before playing for Pulaski in 2017. Vizcaino has a career 4-7 record with the Pulaski Yanks, including a 1-2 mark and 4.39 ERA this season. The 6ā€™2 right-hander is originally from San Cristobal in the Dominican Republic.
