VIZCAINO GOES SEVEN INNINGS, YANKEES SWEEP METS

PULASKI, Va – Alexander Vizcaino pitched seven innings and tied his longest outing of the season in a 5-1 win over the Kingsport Mets on Saturday night in front of a record crowd of 3,814 at Calfee Park. The victory finished a three-game sweep over the Mets and improved the Yanks’ record to above .500 for the first time since Opening Day.

Jordan Scott opened the scoring in the second inning after a run-scoring grounder plated Carlos Tatis. Next inning with Tatis at the plate, Max Burt scored on a wild pitch to double Pulaski’s lead to 2-0. Kingsport cut their deficit to one in the fourth inning after Shervyen Newton scored Kelenic on a sacrifice fly.

But in the fifth, the Yankees rattled off three runs to take a commanding 5-1 lead and provide Vizcaino solid run support. Carlos Narvaez, Juan De Leon and Griffin Garabito all singled with runners in scoring position to each drive in one run. Pulaski finished the evening 3-for-13 with runners in scoring position.

Vizcaino recorded his third win of the season after departing with the final stat line of seven innings allowing one run on one hit, two walks and eight strikeouts. The Pulaski Yankees take the road tomorrow for the first of two games at the Bristol Pirates.
