Carolyn Lynn Akers Thompson

Carolyn Akers Thompson, age 79 of Dublin, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. She was born on January 24, 1944, and was the daughter of the late Virginia Smith Akers and the late Samuel Lee Akers.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Zebbie Miller Thompson.

Carolyn was an amazing wife, mother, and Mamaw.  Her favorite hobby was gardening, and her gorgeous flowers were the envy of the neighborhood.  She loved children and this led to her opening and running a daycare in her home for over 40 years.  Carolyn was a member of Dublin United Methodist Church for 60 years.

Carolyn is survived by her son, Curtis (Sheri) Thompson; her daughters Diane Marion and Jennifer (Scott) Shartzer; grandchildren; Ben, Adam (NaKayla), Mallory (Sam), Grayson, Keely, Delaney, and Maggie.  She is also survived by her brothers, Charles (Patsy) Akers, Don (Janice) Akers; sister Joyce (Jerry) Page; and a brother-in-law, Bill Hubble.

A celebration of life will be held at Dublin United Methodist Church on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Don Shelor officiating.  Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the church on Friday, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
