Jane Douglas Wysor Walker

Jane Douglas Wysor Walker (76) passed away December 17th at Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia, after a long illness at her home in Sumerduck, Va. She was born and raised in Pulaski, VA, graduated from boarding high school at Ben Lippen High School (Asheville, NC), and attended Hollins College (Roanoke, VA), where she studied music.
She lived for many years in Culpeper, VA, where she served on the town council.
Later in life, she graduated with a BA from the University of Virginia (Charlottesville, VA) while also working in the University library.
Jane Douglas had a love of music and art her whole life. Her relative, Jane Stuart Smith, a former opera singer was very influential in her life and love of music and art. Jane Douglas also studied Italian Art and loved visiting museums in Italy.
Jane Douglas spent a long time working at a Christian organization called L’Abri Fellowship alongside the founders Edith and Francis Schaeffer in Huemoz, Switzerland. She spoke French fluently and loved the Swiss mountains and culture.
Her wonderful sense of humor kept those around her smiling and laughing. Her dog Queenie was her beloved and constant companion in her later years. Jane Douglas was a woman of deep Christian faith, understanding the unconditional love and forgiveness in the Lord Jesus Christ. She spent much time in effective prayer in her hours of aloneness and loved her family dearly.
She is survived by her son Evan (Tami) Walker and her daughter Megan (John) Walker Meadows, as well as her mother, Jane Wysor, and grandson Wesley Clauson.
She has three siblings: Bill (Susan) Wysor, Ann Pierce Wysor (Max) Harris, and Robert Wysor. Her father, William Henry Wysor, Jr, preceded her in death.
She will be greatly missed.
Jane Douglas wished to be buried in her hometown of Pulaski, VA. A memorial service will be held on December 31st at 1 PM at the Bower Funeral Home – Chapel, Pulaski. Visitation will be at the same location at 12:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made to Remington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, 200 East Marshall Street, Remington, VA 22734.
