The third time really was the charm at the Galax Old Fiddlers’ Convention for Hollace Oakes of Snowville. After placing third in bluegrass fiddle two years ago and fourth last year, the 12-year-old girl won the Blue Ribbon Monday during Youth Night competition, making it three straight years she has been among the top five in the prestigious event. Not only did she impress the judges but based on the response when the winners were announced, she was also a crowd favorite.
