Matthew Monroe Shrewsbury, “Earth Angel” of Music, 33, of Summersville, SC, left this world Tuesday Jan. 2nd to join his true family and peers. He leaves behind the many friends, colleagues and students from all the places that he studied, performed, taught and generously shared his gift—The University of South Carolina, Epiphany Drum Corp, Costal Carolina University, Dixie High School, Upstate Winds Community Band, CCU Bands, Coastal Surge Drum Corp, Pulaski County High School, New River Valley Winds and Cane Bay High School. Also left behind are his totally devastated family; Mother, Mary, Grandparents, Bill and Elrica, Sisters, Ashlyn, Brandi and Lakin, “Brother”, Joe and his wife Susan and Nephew, Hunter.
There is little to be said about Matt that hasn’t been said on Facebook in the past few days and the Family urges everyone to please read the many kind and loving tributes to him.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Jan. 7th at 2pm from the Little Theater at Pulaski County High School, Dublin, VA with the Family receiving friends after the service. In lieu of flowers the Family wishes memorial gifts be made to the Fine Arts Department at Pulaski County High School, 5414 Cougar Trail Rd. Dublin, VA 24084.

I did not know him personally but saw his performances at Cane Bay which were awesome. I’m sure he is greatly missed. Praying for his family.

He was a great person an most of all a great band dircter an friend to whom all needed him… Rip my sweet friend you will always be thought of..

Matthew, you will be missed dearly. Meeting you as a young person, watching you grow into the wonderful young man you became, was truly a joy. Be at peace young Matt. May you live in the hearts of each person you’ve touched always.
