New River projected to reach 24 feet at Radford
The National Weather Service has updated its river level chart as of 10:49 a.m. today.
The level of New River at Radford is projected to rise to a peak of nearly 24 feet by midnight Monday night. Flood stage is 14 feet.
That is a full foot and a half higher than the NWS projection on Saturday.
The level of New River was observed at 2.79 feet at 10:15 a.m. today.
The NWS predicts the river level will dramatically begin to increase this afternoon as rains from the remnants of Florence pound northern North Carolina. As the New River flows north into this area water levels will rise.
