Obituary for John B. Tucker III
John B. Tucker III, (84), died peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. Born in 1939 to the late John “Jack” Tucker Jr. and Dana Tucker in St. Charles, Virginia. John grew up in Dublin, VA until moving with his family to eventually settle in Owensboro, KY for 28 years and then most recently in Louisville, KY.
John was preceded in death by his three sons Johnnie, Jeff and Jody Tucker. His memory is cherished by his wife of 50 years, Johnsie (Fowler) Tucker and his two daughters, Tracy (Mink) Morris and Dianna (Tucker) Ambrose; two grandchildren, Taylor Morris and Jack Mauzy; along with his brother Robert Tucker (Vivian) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was loved by many friends and coworkers through the years and across the country.
John was a passionate fan of the University of Tennessee where he was a member of the Lettermen’s Club. He was also a member of Westport Road Baptist Church in Louisville, KY. John began his career at Radford Arsenal in Virginia and continued working in the explosives industry for nearly 50 years.
The family would like to thank the staff of Baptist Health East in Louisville whose kindness and support provided great comfort during his final chapter.
John’s family will host a memorial visitation on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 2-5 pm EST. The come and go gathering will be in the chapel at Westport Road Baptist Church, 9705 Westport Rd, Louisville, KY. At a later date, a celebration of life and graveside service will be held at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Dublin United Methodist Church, 424 East Main St., Dublin, Virginia 24084.
