Jones Alfred Nicholas

Alfred Nick Jones, age 89 of Dublin, passed peacefully Monday morning, January 19, 2026 at Lewis Gale Hospital – Montgomery.  He was born in Pulaski on September 6, 1936, and was the son of the late Emily Lou Quesenberry Jones and the late Samuel Henry Jones.  Nick served his country in the United States Army.  He attended Jefferson Elementary School, and was a proud graduate of the Pulaski High School Class of 1956. After graduation, he attended Wingate Junior Colloge and returned home to work for Burlington Industries, where he served for 35 years as a supervisor in the finishing department.  After Burlington’s closure, Nick worked for Corning in Blacksburg until he retired.  He was a long-time member of the Dublin United Methodist Church, and was a former member of the Elks Club.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Samuel W. Jones, John W. Jones, and Donald E. Jones, and one sister, Catherine Jones Logan.

 

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Brenda Harrell Jones of Dublin: son; Timothy Alan Jones of Dublin: daughter; Tara Lynne Jones Clark of Pulaski.  He is also survived by three grandchildren:  Meredith Elaine Etter of Dublin, David Nicholas Etter of Dublin, and Zakkary Alan Jones of Christiansburg, and two great-grandchildren:  Aubrey Samuel Etter and Avery Reign Etter, both of Dublin.

 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Dublin United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Shelor officiating.  Pallbearers include, Zakk Jones (grandson), Nick Etter (grandson), Robin Clark (son-in-law), John Martin (friend), Jim Cook (friend), Jim Cox (friend).  Entombment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and after the service in the reception area of the church.

 

Nick was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  He will be greatly missed by all who know him.
