Obituary for Alvin Earl Parkes
Alvin Earl Parkes, 75, of Draper, VA, formerly of Lewisburg, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 10, 2022, after an unexpected and untimely accident. Earl was a loyal friend and many benefitted from his generous and teaching nature. Always quick to lend a hand and offer a smile, Earl will be remembered as a loving father, Pap, brother, uncle, great uncle and friend.
He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Lynne Parkes and Jody Parkes Mayer; son-in-law, Jon Mayer; grandson, Joseph Mayer; sisters Virginia Parkes Weaver, Norma Parkes Soccio (Vince), brothers Roger Parkes (Connie), Melvin Parkes (Carol), and numerous loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews.
Earl received his nursing degree from Philadelphia General Hospital which is where he met his loving wife of 48 years, Eleanor Roth Parkes, who preceeded him in death in 2016. His nurse anesthesia training was completed while serving his country in the U.S. Air Force. He touched many lives throughout his career as a Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), working primarily in WV and VA. Throughout his life, he took great joy in breeding/raising standard-bred horses, sulky racing, farming, spending time with family, and a good hymn-sing.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Spring of 2023 at Graystone Baptist Church, Lewisburg, WV. Specifics of service will be shared later. Earl was a great man even greater freind . Miss Earl very much. I know your with miss ellie now . RIP my dear brother!
