Pulaski County Sports and Entertainment is pleased to announce that the Kayak Adventure Series (KAS) presented by GoPro will be coming to Pulaski County on May 15–16, 2026, bringing hundreds of anglers to the waters of the New River and Claytor Lake. The two-day event being called the New River Revival, is open to all ability levels and will feature a variety of divisions including individual, team, high school (under 18) and college anglers.

“The New River is world-class and a true bucket-list destination for any smallmouth fanatic. The Kayak Adventure Series gives anglers a reason to make the trip from wherever they live, showcasing the region’s vast fishing resources in an eco-friendly, sustainable format built around catch-measure-photo-release,” said Drew Gregory, founder & President of the Kayak Adventure Series. “Fans can follow along in real time via our live leaderboard with photos. With GoPro as our headline sponsor, we cap the event inside historic theaters, and we’re excited to pack the Pulaski Theatre on Saturday night to showcase the anglers’ best catches and most memorable moments – and, of course, crown our New River Revival Champion.”

The KAS New River Revival is much more than a fishing tournament and is designed to appeal to both experienced anglers, as well as recreational-level fisherman. The event will showcase Pulaski County’s premier paddling and fishing destination, offering participants a unique adventure that combines river and lake kayaking in one weekend. Expected to draw paddlers and anglers from up and down the eastern seaboard, participants will have the opportunity to explore Pulaski County and enjoy a series of events and programs leading up to the two-day competition, including a welcome dinner, opening ceremonies, educational brunch, closing party and awards show, where a kayak will be raffled off to raise money for charity.

“We are excited to welcome the Kayak Adventure Series to Pulaski County,” said Tim Miller, Director of Sports and Entertainment in Pulaski County. “With the New River and Claytor Lake as the backdrop, this event is a perfect opportunity to showcase our incredible waterways, support outdoor recreation, bring visitors to our community, and build on our growing sports and entertainment portfolio.”

While the New River and Claytor Lake are sure to impress out-of-state anglers, the real storyline may be whether a local kayak angler can defend home waters and catch the longest 5 bass to keep the title – and the lion’s share of the cash purse – right here in Pulaski County. With national competitors traveling in from across the country, local knowledge could be the ultimate advantage in this 2-day event verses a field stacked with elite talent.
