State Police investigate house fire in Max Meadows

Special agents with the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Wytheville Field Office were back out at the scene Monday (Sept. 11) investigating a residential fire in Wythe County.

The fire occurred Saturday morning (Sept. 9) at a residence in the 5300 block of Peppers Ferry Road in Max Meadows. An adult male resident was able to escape the burning house without injury.

The search at the fire scene remains ongoing for an adult female, who was last seen inside the residence at the time of the fire. The cause and origin of the fire is undetermined at this stage of the ongoing investigation.

At this stage of the investigation, there is no evidence to indicate the fire was suspicious in nature.
